After numerous request we have added our version of the tipping rail with a bit more substance than some other options you may see. We looked at every possible historical photo, studied size, a multitude of examples, and ultimately settled on a taller post. To our eyes, the short and for lack of a better term “dinky” modern versions offer neither function nor form. A strong wind could knock contents over the rail and virtually every element in the kitchen dramatically overwhelms the small size. We wanted scale, beauty, but most of all proportion. This is twice the height of the miniature versions so measure carefully. To order, add the components you need to create a custom package. We offer a 24 and 36 rail with a connector that hides beneath each center post for longer runs, as well as a center post (pass through hole), corner post (offset holes), and end post (one hole and finished end). Important measurements to note as you plan your rail are listed below. You should also note that the rail will recess into the end post and corner post 3/8. For example, using a 24 section with two corner post would result in a 25 total length. Made of solid brass and offered either burnished or polished, both left unlacquered to age and patina gracefully with time. There may be slight variation from product to product. It's what makes the finish special. We encourage you to check with us before placing a large order to ensure your order comes from the same batch.INSTALLATIONMany of our products are supplied with exposed screws for installation. From a manufacturing Standpoint this is always a battle of form vs function. Everyone wants a beautiful exposed screw, but to do this, we have to use decorative screws that are not as robust as a large screw hidden behind a cabinet door or drawer. We always recommend predrilling cabinet doors and drawers, enlisting the services of a contractor, and installing without the assistance of power tools. If you break a screw off in the course of installation, we are not liable for a failure to follow these instructions. Screws are provided as a courtesy and are your responsibility to install correctly. CARE AND CLEANINGUnlacquered brass is a lovely material that will naturally darken and age with use and exposure. Most of our customers never touch a knob or pull. Whatever you decide, do not use harsh chemicals or bleach. We always recommend a mild dish detergent and water for routine care. If the desire is to bring our polished finish back to its original condition a brass polish can be used, but please do not use this with any of our aged products (Burnished Brass, Antique Brass, Blackened Brass, and Vintage Brass) as it will damage the finish. If you prefer the ability to obtain a new brass look down the road always start with our polished brass.
